Grow your own flavoursome Onions Shallot & Garlic for eating cooked in roasts pastas or salads this summer. This pack contains R.H.S award winning verities of Onion Sturon (50 bulbs) a brown skinned white fleshed onion which is best cooked. Onion Red Baron (50 bulbs) Red Skin with white flesh ideal cooked or sliced for salads. Shallot Golden Gourmet (12 bulbs) shallots grow differently to onions in that each bulb as it grows will split into 4/5 new bulbs. The flavour of shallot is much milder than Onions & are great used in French recipes or simply pickled. Garlic Cristo (3 Bulbs) Separate the bulb into cloves & plant each clove to give you approx. 15 new garlic bulbs at the end of summer. A richly flavoured soft neck garlic with several cloves per bulb. All onions shallots & garlic are in the Allium family. They required soil (or containers) that is moist but free drained & lots of sun. Simply plant each bulb or clove aprox 10cm apart so that their pointy necks are just below the surface. Water in dry spells & once the leaves have fallen over in summer they are ready to harvest. Each variety stores well & once air dried they can be gathered & hung in a cool shed & used til the new year.
